The Daisycutters and The Tenants
The Daisycutters are a quartet responsible for some of the most ‘hummable’ tunes to come out of QLD in the last 2 decades.
In 2023 the band joined the roster of MADCAP Global Music, who released their brand-new album – ‘Become What You Are’ – out now on Vinyl and on all the streaming platforms. Indie giant ‘Caroline Records’ will be distributing the album in the UK and USA, whilst Rocket Imports is servicing stores in Australia. The album has been met with unanimous critical acclaim – with their 3 rd single ‘I’m not the one who just wants to be friends’ notching up an impressive 41,000 views on YouTube in its first month of release!
Formed in the late 1990s, the band first drew attention by taking out top honours in the coveted Brisbane JJJ Unearthed competition – the first time the national youth broadcaster had looked for talent in a major city. Their winning song the effervescent “Kiss me Stupid”, enjoyed high rotation on Triple J and spent 11 weeks in the charts peaking at number 8! They quickly followed this up with possibly their most memorable tune – a sweet little slice of Queensland pop – “Sick Day”. An enormous JJJ radio fave, the song was also chosen to be the soundtrack to a ‘MasterCard’ advertising campaign enjoying massive prime time TV rotation in 2003!
________
In the late 90s THE TENANTS were plunged from obscurity to superstardom via a little number called “You Shit Me to Tears”. The title track from their debut EP went on to sell 15,000 copies, reaching number 3 in the JJJ Hottest 100 competition and become an instant anthem for punters all over the country.
Their 2001 follow up EP “Caucasian Overbite” included two more radio hits “Pub Girl” and “Boredom”. Their full-length album “Everything You Know Is Wrong” kicked off with “Ready to Rumble” It became the “Footy Show” theme for a time and sent the band to a showcase at SXSW in Austin Texas.
Fast forward to 2024……… The Tenants thought it may be time to jump back in the studio & have a crack at a new album. Lead Singer/Songwriter – Ace reckons “the new Ep is sounding very big, sweaty, dirty & pub rock like. Dirty rock was the brief & I believe it has been nailed!”.
